Carbonite has recruited heavy hitters in its bid to reorganize the company in line with its intentions to file for an initial public offering later this year.

According to the press release Carbonite ®, a leading provider of online backup and “anywhere, anytime access”, today announced the company is organizing around its two key customer segments by forming Consumer and Small Business groups and has appointed senior executives to head each of these lines of business. Since June, the company has also added seasoned executives to lead its Product and Services groups.

Their only negative comment was that it did not monitor specific folders for changes but finished with “If you’re willing to do a little extra housekeeping, it’s otherwise worthy.”

Let’s face it EVERYBODY needs to make back up copies of their data. So why not use a service like Carbonite? It is really simple to use and can be accessed from virtually anywhere. Additionally, because your data is held offsite you are not at risk in the event of flood, theft or fire. Of course, that is not the case if you simply copy to a backup disk and stick it in your desk drawer until you do it again/need it.
If your data is at all valuable then:

back it up not once but twice
do it daily
store a copy offsite – in another non connected building
